Default How bout PvE charcter only PVP arenas?

I find the whole Build-A-Bear/ Tinker Toy approach to PvP to be annoying. We should have arenas where only real characters can play. By real characters, I mean those that have come from the PvE world with all their faults and skills. No PvP Flavor of the Minute toons allowed.


I have searched to see if this idea has been posted, although I have not read every topic, I didn't find it. If it is an old idea, then shut it down and slap me.

It would create a totally different environment to play in. It would add the option for me to not be forced to play with a certain type of people* when I feel like playing competition arenas. And that's the only kind of PvP I do play.

* - I'm not saying all PvPers are this class of people I'd like to avoid, but the ones I do want to avoid, I want to avoid badly. Really, if I could have even ONE less annoying encounter, the whole PvE only arena would be worth it for me.

I'm not sure what makes you think PVEers (read: people who pretty much only do PVE and avoid PVP like the plague) are any less annoying and pretentious.

No, really, the PvPers stand out. No PvEer has ever slighted me for wearing 15k armor in the competition arenas. A while ago I started indiscriminately adding anyone who talked trash to anyone in a competitions match to my ignore list. When I look at it, I find the VAST majority of the names are indicative of them being PvP only characters. (Use of words like 'Test', 'Pvp', 'Build', etc. in the names.)

There are plenty of annoying people in PvE, to think that there isn't is really blinkered.

I do PvP with my PvE character anyway if I'm wanting to PvP with an Ele, I have the character, why not?

And you say people from PvE with all their faults, what makes you think that standard PvP characters won't still be used in these arena's, all it takes is the swapping around of some skills on your bar.

I'm not saying there aren't annoying people in PvE. I'm saying that most people who've annoyed me in the competition arenas were PvPers. I would love to play competition arenas where I don't run the risk of having 'Random Name Test One' on my team, who calls me a noob before the match even started and who leaves 3 seconds after he died while I'm using my res signet on him. I run into too many people who aren't there to have a relaxed bit of fun.

Will it be better, with PvE only arenas? I think it might well be. Maybe I'm wrong, but we won't know until we tried, will we? In any case, adding more play style choices to the game is always good.

Perhaps I should clarify what I want to see. I would like to see a Arena with only PvE charcters allowed into the arena. Yes, you can modify your skill bar all day long before going in, tweak your attributes, and can run out to the desert and change your secondary profession if you want, but you are somewhat locked into the weapons, applied runes, and armour you actually have and your primary profession. It does narrow what you can do somewhat and it does keep out a lot of those purely PvP players with the nasty attitudes. This puts some paramaters on the game, and players will have "earned" the right to fight there.

Right now, people that want to play with their PvE characters in arena, GvG, or tombs, are facing a bunch of people who have built their player with whatever they want from their toolkit.

Then throw in team deathmatch, free for all, or even monster spawns, just for fun. Could you imagine a arena with a lvl 30 dragon or a bunch of Jade Armours thrown in with a bunch of players trying to kill each other?

/signed. I don't think it will be implemented because of the relative "seamlessness" of the game, but I would like to know that I can go to a place where everyone that is Level 20 has EARNED that right through the toil of the PvE game.

I am not sure about this one. As it is, most times when I head into arena, I end up seeing the same people over and over. More segregation is not what is needed in CA/TA. There aren't enough players in there I think.


If you want to do some segregation? How about a Normal Ascalon and a Twinkie Ascalon, Normal Shiverpeaks and Twinkie Shiverpeaks. THEN see how the PvP community will really grow, and both normal players and twinkies get a taste of a fair fight.

How on earth would a PvE char only arena prevent flavor of the minute toons? As a matter of fact, my PvE chars can change profession, clothes, and weapons to fit sudden build changes much faster than I could delete & rebuild a PvP toon.

All builds available in PvP are available in PvE. Annoying and immature people are found in PvP and PvE.

Creating a PvE only arena would succeed at nothing.

There's no need for this.
Most anything you can get in pve you can get in pvp. Especially with the xunlai around in CA, TA, and Tombs. Make your pvp toon, grab your 10/10 wand, presto.
